Thanks r4ptor. I agree about needing more practice, although LFSW milage isn't very representative. I've clocked a lot more miles in the past year in demo mode, and I've been lapping alot offline the past few weeks. I guess I'm familiar with the general physics, but I'm still learning the physics of the FZR (should come in handy when I buy that GT3 in 20 years from now )
Hyperactive - thanks for an insightful reply. This inconsistency happens even in hotlapping mode, i.e. one day I'm driving well all by myself, and another day it all goes awry.
I try to brake, turn, accelerate at the same points, but of course, getting it just a bit wrong can be disastrous. Maybe my reaction times and/or focus are just not very good on the "bad" days...man, it starts to sound like I'm on a period :spyoda:
What exactly do you mean by brake markers? I'm using the distance markers (colored), kerb locations, tyre stacks etc. as reference points. Am I missing something else?
I'm having consistency issues. I often find that I can be fairly fast and consistent (based on my personal driving history) one day, when everything just "clicks", but slow, inconsistant and spinning out the next day (same car/track/setup). It's like I'm on a "driving block" or something
Does anyone else experience this or have any ideas how to get over it quickly?
Thanks, Mike! That one is one of my favorite photos (that I took), but having a telephoto could capture more detail of the bridge
As to wasting the fuel, it really depends on where you live, but I personally prefer to simply go for a walk around town with camera in hand. You never know what you'll spot, so it's a bit of an adventure every time. The aesthetics of seemingly everyday/familiar objects can be striking. Just need to get the angle and lighting right
Lucky you! Hope she was as nice as the car
I'm up in Berkeley, btw. And given our parking situation, finding a girl with a beautifully restored 2002 ain't easy
Since you were able to use the Tammy on whatever you had previously, I take it you had another Sony/Minolta? Or does the Sony system accept other mounts?
@STROBE - thanks, mate, and good stuff coming from you, too. #5 is my favorite! That Tamron is doing a mightly nice job. What's the full specs on it? And A700 = Sony Alpha 700?
Medicine, certainly. I'm saying this as an engineer (mechanical). I won't say that getting my degrees was easy, but you have to go through more stuff in pre-med and medical school. Besides, I hate memorization.
I thought IRL teams are able to change gear ratios between races. Or perhaps that's just the higher classes of motor racing. Either way, if the setup works across the board, then that's great.
Sheesh, what are these guys smoking?! Every time I need to download something from rshare they have a new version of this crap. But the current one just takes the cake. Next thing you know, they'll ask you to enter characters where the cat is a male.illepall
Is the diff type also fixed, and will there be a different fixed set for each race? I'm asking b/c the gear ratios would need to be altered going from circuit to circuit.
Also, it may be a good idea to set a maximum brake force value to simulate real cars.
*As a clarification to the rules, there are no mandatory pitstops during the race, right?
Speaking of g-meters, do you guys think that it'd be more visually intuitive to have a "moving dot" type of display like the ones seen in F1 onboard footage? I couldn't find an actual image, but something that looks like this:
Scawen - would this be difficult to implement? Thanks in advance!
Leprekaun, I'd really like to do this, but 8PM GMT makes it 1 pm or 12 pm over here. That's fine during the summer, but probably undoable during the fall season (school, etc.) on a Wednesday. Is there any chance the dates could be moved to a weekend instead? This might also get more people from the western hemisphere interested...
Edit: damn, I misspelled your name twice! :banghead:
